When you take the chance on a pet sitting in a shelter, waiting for a home, you are showing others it's cool to be kind.
You are stepping up to teach by example, showing others that love can be found at the most simple of places, your county's humane society, SPCA, or at a local rescue.
You are teaching your children how to make thoughtful choices for the greater good, and that life isn't always about just "buying" or "instant gratification", but about taking in an animal in need. and giving them a new chance at love and a life. Raising kind little humans is an incredible task, and you just proved to them that doing the right thing is the better thing
You are supporting the work of millions of underpaid and overworked folks in welfare who work tirelessly to save the forgotten, discarded, and abandoned innocent creatures who were left to suffer or die by cruel people; you are giving those of us who struggle daily with what we see and deal with, hope - hope that things will someday get better for the animals we so desperately work to save, rehabilitate, foster, train, and adopt out to the next forever home.
You are choosing what society views as "imperfect" because you know what's important in life, because you're sick of seeing healthy animals euthanized due to lack of space, because you too, cry silently for the mill dogs, creatures who spend their lives in misery, the fearful, sad, abused and neglected dogs and cats everywhere that are struggling to survive.....
Thank you.
Thank you for being the kind of human we need more of, the kind who believes in the good found behind the gates and bars of cages and runs everywhere. Thank you for speaking up with your choice to rescue, and showing other people that this is a good thing; a solution; a sustainable way to live. Thank you for continuing to give us all hope.
