The area known as Delmarva is located along the east coast and includes the state of Delaware along with the eastern shore counties of Maryland and Virginia. The peninsula is bordered by the Chesapeake Bay, Delaware River, Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, and while we are just a few hours from many major cities such as D.C., Baltimore and Philadelphia, we are definitely a distinctive place. Honoring Our Veterans: the Kent County Veterans Memorial in Dover, Delaware
This is a beautiful tribute located north of the Air Force Base, just off Route 1 in Dover. The park itself is small but very moving, nicely designed and well planned and there are a number of monuments and pieces paying honor to veterans. You can view all the photos on my Flickr album.
Article about the VVA Chapter 850 launching the effort to build this memorial in Dover: “This memorial is a very special way of saying ‘Welcome Home’ to the twenty-two who never made it back alive. This is our commitment. It will happen.”
