What Does "Community" Mean To You?

I talk a lot about people, neighborhood, local places and building a better place to live. My reflections on community aren't shared for likes or driven by an agenda, but are simply a collection of beliefs and observations I've collected over the past decade. How I grew up wasn't this way at all, in fact it was the complete opposite of what I describe now. Isolated, cut off from the world and raised with a distrust and distance from people was the norm; for years I subscribed to that way of thinking and my best to hang back and remain distant and aloof.

Why Buy Local? How Fresh Food from Area Growers Is Better - Especially Now!

The majority of food we eat comes from the hard-working, dedicated and often-unappreciated farm families all across our country. Choosing to spend with them right in our own counties and states has perhaps never been more important than right now as we've seen the weakness in our food system over the last few months. We've likely all experienced standing in long lines at the grocery store, frustrated by lack of products, and there's a sense of worry felt around the world at the bare shelves so many of us have noticed. Why not shift more of our spending to the real heroes of America and support local growers and farmers?

Memorial Day Weekend | Honor, Remember, Respect

Happy Friday, friends! Can you believe, after all which has happened this year, that we have arrived at the end of May?? I wish you a safe weekend as we together pause and take the time to honor our fallen. Let us never forget to remember the reason for Memorial Day.

Respect The Road, Delmarva "Live, Love, LOOK" May 2020

We are all out there every day, traveling the same roads across the counties and states of Delmarva. Regardless of what kind of transportation you use, whether you operate a vehicle, drive professional, commute to work on a bicycle or ride a motorcycle.....we are all in this together. Make the effort to “respect the road”, move over for emergency vehicles and stay alert so we can all arrive alive.

Our Coastal Towns Awaken | Recovery from a Pandemic in Ocean City, Maryland

Saturday, May 9th: with social distancing and safety guidelines in place, the beach and boardwalk in Ocean City reopened to the public. My goal is to walk by the surf, soak up the salt air and gratefully admire the simple beauty of the Atlantic Ocean. We've changed, however, since March, and nothing in our world is ever going to be quite the same again.

Happy Mother's Day To All The Dog and Cat Moms

Yes. You read that right. This IS a post about those of us who rescue, love, adopt, save, adore and cherish our beloved kids on four feet! Maybe we don't have human children or perhaps we do, but one thing is constant inside of us all; these furkids hold a very special place in our hearts, lives and homes so today we celebrate that love.
