Museum of the Delaware State Police | Museums of Delmarva

The police museum in Kent County, Delaware, offers visitors an inside look at the First State's law enforcement history, is home to a collection of police vehicles, memorabilia and tributes to fallen officers. There are displays for items such as early motorcycle units, lights and sirens from long ago, uniforms, signage and educational exhibits for all ages. It is definitely a place I would recommend to take your kids so they can see and learn about what our state troopers do.

About: "The Delaware State Police Museum, founded April 1998, was built for and dedicated to the preservation of the proud history of the Delaware State Police. This history includes solemn chapters recalling the life and death of Troopers whose lives were cut short while in service to this great nation." See more on their website here and view a pictorial history of the Delaware State Police via YouTube.

I found the vehicles and section of lights and sirens so interesting, and we've gone back a number of times to visit. If you are lucky enough to find someone in there who has the time to chat, they are most often a wealth of information about different items and how they are used or came to be in the museum.

Article via the Middletown Transcript from April 2018: "State police museum shows the dangers -- and the human side -- of law enforcement".

In addition to the museum you can also visit the Delaware State Police Memorial, located nearby at the DSP Headquarters complex. It's a short walk across the parking lot areas.
