Today is National Thrift Store Day!

Celebrated on August 17th each year, this date spotlights second-hand shops, resale stores, thrift boutiques, etc. Whatever you call them, they are part of our retail world - and they are most often found right where you live.

However, while this could be considered a retail holiday, such stores are really so much more than that. Many second-hand shops are operated by nonprofits and charities in your own community, who use the funds collected to do good right where you live. It's a great benefit to spend "where it means more" and help support worthy causes.

I came across a post that mirrored something I wrote about this morning - how resale & thrift shops make a difference right in the local community. So well said by Halo's Rescued Treasures Thriftique in Sebastian, Florida! See the post on Facebook here.

Why not get out and support your community today by visiting a local thrift store? I'm sure you have such a place nearby which gives back and helps causes right in your neighborhood or town. Enjoy National #ThriftStoreDay
