It's National Bluebird of Happiness Day (September 24th)

I'm sure you have all seen the little birds one can purchase around the world, made of colored glass. Did you know those have been made in the USA since the eighties?

First, what is the meaning of this day? "The bluebird is a symbol of hope, love, and renewal and is also a part of many Native American legends. It symbolizes the essence of life and beauty. Dreaming of bluebirds often represents happiness, joy, fulfillment, hope, prosperity, and good luck. A bluebird flying around the house is a sign that someone will bring news of a promotion or raise at work." Read more @ the article Bluebird Symbolism and Spiritual Meaning

A man by the name of Leo Ward is credited with bringing the Arkansas’ Bluebird of Happiness to life, creating a small, glass bluebird in 1982, according to the Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture. Since then, more than 9 million of them have been sold through Terra Studios near Durham in Washington County.

Leo Ward used the money to fund other artistic and economic endeavors. "He was proud of the fact that it worked and made money," said Bill Ward, his son, and although he passed in 2017 his work and kindness lives on. source: Arkansas Gazelle
