All Aboard! Open House at the DelMarVa Model Railroad Club

In today's crazy mixed-up world it's a good thing we have people like the folks at the DelMarVa Model Railroad Club! What a fun experience to walk through their layouts and villages, admire models railroad towns and trains of all sizes and marvel at the miniature details built carefully into every scene.

Have you ever visited them? Located on the second floor of an old building in Delmar, Delaware, there is a literally a world of magic to discover. As you walk up the stairs, the statue of a train conductor greets you by the counter where they can answer questions and give you an overview of the facility.

From then on you can explore in whichever direction you wish - and there is a lot to look at! Take a careful look at the tiny trains towards the rear of the space, because the scale of the accessories and scenery is so well done. There is a separate space filled with holiday landscapes and winter and Christmas towns and scenery, along with many beautiful models displayed along the walls.

This is an event that's fun for all ages - we were there without kiddies and always enjoy the experience. 😄 You have just one more weekend to catch the open house on Saturday, January 15th & Sunday, January 16th (see below). Don't forget to stop at the snack bar to grab a hot dog, soup and baked goodies too - remember, this is a free attraction, however the club exists on donations so your purchases or dollars dropped in the containers around the throughout the building are what keeps the lights on! There is also an area of souvenirs such as a cool DRMMC train whistle, hats and other items, along with a variety of miscellaneous train parts and cars for sale.

"Our next Open House is scheduled for Jan 8 & 9, 2022 and Jan 15 & 16, 2022. The hours on Saturday are 11-4, Sunday 12-4. Located on the 2nd floor of Camelot Hall (STAIRS ONLY), the DelMarVa Model Railroad Club has over 8000 Square feet and 8 layouts to see. FREE admission and fun for train lovers of all ages. There is food available for purchase, raffle tickets for prizes, and a fun seek & find to help you "see" the details on the layouts. ADDRESS: 103 E. State Street, Delmar DE 19940. Please park BEHIND St Stephens Church. (Please use reasonable health precautions and please stay home if you are unwell)."
