Towns of the Delmarva Peninsula | Newark, MD and the Queponco Railway Station

Tucked away on Maryland's eastern shore, located between Berlin and Snow Hill, you will find the town of Newark. Most people assume, when you mention it, that you are mistaken and of course referring to it's namesake in northern Delaware - but no, there is indeed a Newark in Worcester County, MD. Turn off of Route 113 and go perhaps a mile or two and there you are.

The Queponco Railway Station is a historic United States railway station located at 8378 Patey Woods Road, Newark, Worcester County, Maryland. Constructed by the Pennsylvania Railroad, the Queponco Railway Station served Snow Hill, Berlin and Newark communities. The station closed in the 1960s. See the Worcester County Museum site about the railroad station here.

The Newark Fire Department. I wrote a separate blog post about that a few months ago that you can find here.

Trinity United Methodist Church, Established 1830.

Barbely's Family Restaurant is located near the train tracks. Check out their website or Facebook page.
