To Our Vietnam Veterans and American Heroes....WELCOME HOME.

Today, March 29th, we once again remember, honor and acknowledge our Vietnam Veterans. Sadly, the services and observations which would normally mark this occasion have been canceled due to our current health crisis, however we must never forget or overlook this important date.

"In March of 1965, the first U.S. troops entered the jungle-filled country of Vietnam. This would begin America's involvement in one of the most controversial wars in the nation's history. While the service members were facing new dangers around every turn, the environment back home was growing increasingly hostile. As more of the population grew to protest the war, it became evident that the military members fighting in the jungles of Vietnam were quickly becoming public enemy number one." Opening paragraph of an extremely well-written piece on We Are The Mighty. I hope you will read the entire post and share.

The actual date, which has experienced shifts and a lack of conformity over the years, is perhaps best explained here: "This day honoring our heroes has been celebrated since 1973 on either March 29th or March 30th of each year through a patchwork of state resolutions. However, in 2017, the date of the holiday was set as March 29th by U.S President Donald Trump. This day is now officially known as National Vietnam War Veterans Day." DeKalb County Online

Most importantly, should you know of a Vietnam Veteran, reach out to them today and acknowledge all they have been through since they answered their country's call so many years ago. There is no time during which it is inappropriate to express our gratitude to those who served and I shake the hand of of Vietnam Veteran each and every time I see them. Let us keep this message alive to remind those who as with us that we care enough to right the wrong which took place, while in our hearts remembering the sacrifices made by all whose names are inscribed on the Wall. Thank you and God bless!

Maybe It's Time To Rethink How We See Small Business

So much has changed since I posted yesterday afternoon. Our state became one of the six under a stay-at-home order, and while for a brief instant that news brought temporary irritation, it was immediately eclipsed thinking of our small business owners.

My People Are Struggling (Small Business Love)

I've been feeling more than a little bit sad, worried and concerned, not for me, but for the countless individuals who wear the title of independent retailer or small business owner. My heart is heavy for all the ones who right now as I type these thoughts on my phone at 3:30 AM, are likely also lying awake mulling over possibilities and options, weighing out potential scenarios and next steps.

Support For Our Small Business Owners (March 2020)

In light of the countless business owners and entrepreneurs who may be facing loss of business due to extended periods of travel bans and cancelled events, let's remember to think of our neighbors and friends. Many retailers and store owners are navigating some difficult times right now and it would be an excellent opportunity to reach out to someone today.

Celebrating Daylight Saving Time | Springing Forward March 2020

I'm thrilled to be able to once again poke fun at the process and nuisance of Daylight Saving Time. While I don't agree that it's actually needed in this day and age, the semi-annual occurrence does provide us with delightful cartoons and humor.
