In 2018, Watson had ruptured a disc in his back and became paralyzed. We rushed to a specialty veterinary clinic in Annapolis for surgery, and he sailed through, came home to recover but didn't get back on his feet right away. We committed to his rehab process, and with dedicated work and the incredible team at Haven Lake in Milford, Delaware, for acupuncture and water therapy, got him back up and running several months later. A year later, during decreased activity over the winter, a setback sidelined him temporarily but his huge heart just didn't let him stay down, and his love of life brought him back around, all the while being the best big brother in the world to our timid, nervous little rescue pup. The two of them, along with his basset sister, were inseparable.
Ever since coming into our home in 2013, Watson had taken a piece of my husband's heart and vice versa, but without warning, everything changed. Loving life so deeply, our boy hadn't shown signs or symptoms of what was going on, still playfully chasing a cat around the house on the morning of June 1st, 2023, minutes before we walked out the door headed back to Annapolis. He was the first animal who passed without us; the only one of our rescued crew to pass away from home, and that is what still cuts so deeply. Fly high, beautiful boy....you meant the world to us and to your little brother. 💔 love you forever 💕
