Ice Cream for Breakfast Day (happening the 1st Saturday in February)

Coming up on February 6th it's the third "official frozen dessert holiday" of the year.....and it's a good one! Ice Cream for Breakfast Day invites us all to tap into our inner child and break rules by indulging in delicious creations involving pancakes, waffles, cereal and sometimes even donut ice cream sandwiches. (I KNOW!)

Celebrated each year on the first Saturday in February, "Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day" does fall smack in the middle of the winter, but when ice cream is involved we try not to be too picky. This holiday is said to have been created in the 1960's and being devoted fans of locally produced products in our area, we have a deep sense of appreciation for ice cream made on Delmarva. We take celebration of such holidays seriously - as do many of you! - and make every effort to support the family-owned businesses where we live.

I'm searching for local events around Delmarva and hoping to find some tasty combinations for Saturday morning. So far I've seen Woodside Creamery in Hockessin, Delaware giving a sneak peek of their offering and it looks AMAZING (image below).

The Frozen Farmer in Bridgeville, DE has declared the entire month to be an Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast occasion. Posted on their Facebook page:

"February is National Ice Cream for Breakfast month! In true celebration, we will be adding Homemade Waffle Sundaes (Regular & Brownie) and Donut Sundaes (Glazed, Sour Cream, Chocolate Glazed, Chocolate Frosted & Powdered) to our regular menu starting Thursday for the month of February! Come see us this month to have your Ice Cream for Breakfast!"
