About: Bridgeville is one of the oldest surviving communities in western Sussex County. Long before Sussex County was subdivided into hundreds, a community in the 1680′s began to develop along the small waterway known as Bridge Branch. A bridge was built across the stream and it served as the nucleus of the community. The name Bridgeville was adopted around 1810 and the Town was incorporated in 1871. Today, Bridgeville is a pleasant agricultural-oriented community known for fine homes and broad tree-lined streets. Many diverse denominations are represented by the Churches of Bridgeville. Our recent excursion was an enjoyable lazy afternoon visiting several area businesses. Antique Alley is always a memorable stop, followed by a delicious lunch at Tony's and locally-made ice cream at the Frozen Farmer. We stopped by the fire station as well but did not see information on when the museum might be open, however the memorial is available to view behind the main building. Check out the album on Facebook here.
Antique Alley is a mall with more than 60 different dealers and 20,000 sq. ft. of shopping space. I've loved going there for what seems like forever as it's nicely laid out, offers a lot of variety in merchandise and is always clean and attractive. Prices and items range from postcards to real collectibles so I think it's safe to say they offer something for everyone - check out the room of clocks here.

Tony’s Pizza & Pasta Italian Restaurant has been delighting locals and visitors since 1982. I love small places and supporting local so finding such a spot for lunch was a definite must. Pizza, pasta, burgers and more means no one leaves hungry. Dine in or carryout available.
The Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Company was founded in 1909 and has been serving the community for 112 years. Behind the station in town there is a small museum which houses their 1936 Reo SpeedWagon antique engine, along with the firefighter statue and memorial shown above. We did not see posted hours for the museum but I will check on that and put an update.

If you've seen my other posts about locally made ice cream, A.K.A. the Unofficial Delmarva Ice Cream Trail, you've likely read about the Frozen Farmer. Launched as a new venture on the property of family-owned and operated Evans Farms, they offer genuine "Delaware-made" products in their full-service creamery and ice cream parlor right off of route 404. You might have even seen their company on Shark Tank!

While I find myself lacking the time to thoroughly research and write a complete history and background on every destination we visit, I want to share these cool places with folks. After all, one of the things I love most about this area is how chock full of charming towns, unique restaurants and independently-owned businesses it is! There are of course, other eateries and shops to enjoy in Bridgeville, however as I generally just post about places we personally visit, please check out these links to find out more. You can also find loads of additional information on my Pinterest boards and other social media links listed below as well. Happy travels!
