How many places do you know of where you can still sit at an old-fashioned lunch counter? Pictured above is the dining area and coffee shop (as you enter it would be on your right), while the bar runs parallel on the left side. The coffee shop serves up breakfast and lunch all season long, and is a perfect space to grab a bite or sit and people watch. The bar is open later into the night, with both sections starting off weekends in the spring, open daily during the summer months, and then back to weekends for the off-season season in the fall.
Established in 1940, the Bar at the Inlet lists themselves as "The First Bar on the Boardwalk", so it's kind of like catching up with a bit of OC history when you visit. The staff is always pleasant, the food is basic diner-type fare, and the atmosphere and wood paneling are perfect for stepping back in time. There's even a vintage PacMan arcade game towards the back. 😊
Stop in to grab a meal or a cold one, and support one of Ocean City's many unique small businesses that give it the cool flavor and vibe we all love. ** go soon, because their official closing date is Sunfest, the third weekend of October.
Enjoy your visit! 🙂
