The CFD has been serving their community since 1802 in not one county but two. Located in Milford they cover portions of both Sussex and Kent counties. "It is the mission of the Carlisle Fire Company both volunteer and career staff to preserve life and property; promote public safety; and foster community support services in a professional manner." (statement via the department website)
Unfortunately I was unable to find out their history as it's not shown on the website, but I'll keep looking for further material. The memorial of the standing firefighter is very striking but unfortunately I was in a hurry and didn't get to get a good picture of the entire building.
